When you want things done right, you have to do them yourself, right? There’s nothing marginally decent in the trim sections at the fabric store–it’s all either too huge or too fake-looking.
Spent a lovely afternoon stitching fringed trim for these epaulets. Because they are so small, I had to do most of the stitching by hand. I layered gold felt ovals with small pads of felt stacked beneath them to hold the epaulets at the right height off the shoulder, then covered the pads with gold silk dupioni.
Couched gold cord trim is done on the cuffs, collar, and jacket front as well, and I’m heading into the home stretch–stitching the coat and lining before doing all the hand-detailing.
When Aimee does something, she does it right.
I hope that, with the new year things turn the way you are going now…
The celebrations are starting already. I’m getting psyched already for the big event.
