So, I found a way to deal with the odd front-flap-in-stretch-pants problem using a false front lining. Which means trousers are done and probably won’t need a do-over after all (though, I may still stitch some plain ol’ capris just in case).
I did all the hemming over the weekend, and spent the time to do topstitching by hand (about 20 stitches to the inch!) because the jacket just didn’t feel structured enough. Bonus: it also added a neat contrast pattern along the edges of the gold silk lining.
In the photos, the epaulets are still secured with pins, but they are on permanently now, and I’m putting in the last few snaps inside the jacket (the shirt is done, and the pants are entirely pull-on).
Then, all that’s left is the cape…
