The Doodle persists in clinging (she’s growing a new molar), and I’ve had a week of what felt like non-stop appointments.  Thankfully, the appointments confirmed, among other things, that my WAPF/Real Food diet has had a very positive impact on my “porous enamel.”  Where my old dentist saw the need for a crown and 3 fillings 6 months ago, my new dentist sees near-perfect dental health and “no active decay!”  Now that I’ve gotten a clean bill of dental and medical health, I can get back to stitching and finish Darren and Yuko’s project very near the end of January, like I figured I would.

On the Rose of Versailles jacket, I’m embarking on setting in the sleeves (must be done by hand, as the coat sleeves have the traditional seam up the center back of the arm and the armscyes are too tiny to machine stitch), and then, I can get the collar and cuffs stitched in and fuss with the tails, buttons, medals, etc.  Then, all that remains is the rolled hem on the cape…and maybe take 2 on the trousers.  The first pair is very historically accurate with the front flap, but I have some stretch twill remaining and want to try to make a lined, zippered-on-the-side version that will wear a little less accurate but a lot sleeker.  That way, there will be a couple of options for the Dollpa.

Chelsea’s fitting went well (I need to start advertising tailoring with a free live concert/recital, as my little ham sang, danced, and showed off the entire time), and as soon as I’ve got this little jacket complete, I’ll be cutting out the silk for the project while the Better War Through Archery belt favors are stitching out on my embroidery machine.

After these two commissions are complete, I’ve got a few personal projects to work on before I take on any others, including some machine-embroidery for a gift, my Spanish Baby (now toddler) project, figuring out how to knit in the round on my flatbed knitting machine, and stitching more cloth diapers, so that I can get a cloth diaper loaner program underway for our church food pantry.
