Muslins are off being tried on, so the Col. Brandon outfit is on hold til the verdict is in on the fit.
Blue dress for Puki is coming along nicely, though I’m fussing with the sleeves–I was silly and didn’t put a side seam in the gown, so now I’m going to have to ease them into armholes that are smaller than my pinky finger. Should be fun! Here it is sleeveless and waiting for the “binding” (silk ribbon) to be tacked down by hand:
And I’m starting a commission for Suki Yume. The inspiration is the Zeffirelli Romeo and Juliet. It’ll be basic Italian Ren (well, movie Italian Ren, I suppose, given the inspiration):
I stood in my closet, where I hang my fabric stash (organized alphabetically by fiber content!) for half an hour, trying to decide on the fabric to use for the project. I like the golds and reds of the film’s gown, but everything I have on hand is very muted. I kept coming back to this beautiful, vintage embroidered cotton velvet Aurelia gave me when I was working back at Monticello. It’s too busy, I kept telling myself–but after going through all the other options, I think it’s the best. The blue is stunning, and I’ve discovered Elfdoll NS looks really fantastic in blue. I’m going to do the chemise with a very low neck in silk chiffon, and line the gown in a buttercream cotton. This photo really doesn’t do the velvet justice–the embroidery is a pinky tone and a creamy golden yellow:
Also on my plate this month and next: Viking-inspired warrior outfit for a SL Kimmy doll, SD-sized jeans and off-the-shoulder tees for S.’s twins, and an actual people-sized commission (!).
