So my Elizabeth of Austria gown has been on hold for months, at least so far as blogging is concerned. But at SCA events and such, I’ve actually made some progress. My darling husband made the partlet for me (it’s glass pearls & red glass stones in square settings strung on wire) and what remains now is mostly detail work and such that I can’t bat my eyelashes out of.
I don’t think I’ll get much further with it until I get my dress form cinched (it’s a Uniquely You that hasn’t been unique-ified to match me yet…hence the lopsided-ness of the dress on the form in the photo–my shoulders are much closer to my bust than the form’s are, and the bodice just doesn’t sit right). In any event, I took it to a garb workshop and figured if went to all the trouble of getting it on the dummy, I might as well snap a photo and post an update.
It hasn’t been fussed with since the car-ride home, so a few things are awry, like the partlet neckline and the sleeve, which is straight-pinned to the foam and still lacking a sleeve cap. Anywho:
I should note that the bodice jewelry, necklace, and bilament is not my doing. I’m not nearly patient enough to produce such magnificent sparklies–Rhonda at Sapphire & Sage is my hero.
