Please pardon any odd letters and symbols–I upgraded WordPress today and it added a lovely array of Â’s and half-finished html codes…I think I got them all, but there’s no telling.
So I’ve begun preparing in earnest for Pennsic and for the Rainyverse competition. My doll will be accompanying us to Pennsic, so she needs garb, and I need a couple more outfits that aren’t black velvet. I’ve decided that life is too short to wear velvet in the summer. So, I have some blue linen that is cut, but not sewn, for myself and I have made patterns for Elizabethan underthings and a dress for Jane Doe (she’s still nameless).
Jane’s head should be coming back from California in the next week or two, and then I’ll introduce her to everybody. In the past week, I’ve completed her swimsuit for Rainyverse, and gotten her evening gown near-finished (it just needs a hem). I have also gathered an array of wigs, shoes, and even little glasses, so that she’ll be ready for anything when she’s put back together. Stay tuned.
So, to review–I yet again feel compelled to complete another partial wardrobe before Pennsic. I already have a red linen and a gray linen 16th c., a black linen 15th century Spanish gown, and a red flannel (not that warm, amazingly) 16th c. I want a blue dress, more middle-class. I’m thinking that I’d like to make another 15th c. kirtle, and another 16th. century. And I need to make another tranzado and cofia to replace the one that got rust-stained beyond recognition last Pennsic. My hope is that after this year (I say this every year) I won’t have to sew madly for two months in preparation for war…
